Redesigned Tundra with the Latest High-Tech Features

Toyota redesigned its flagship full-size pickup truck and added a plethora of new safety and high-tech features.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra has impressive powertrain choices, including the standard twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 and a mild hybrid system with the twin-turbo V6 and an electric motor. The two engines deliver 389 horsepower and 479 horsepower respectively. While the standard drivetrain comes in rear-wheel drive, buyers can upgrade to all-wheel drive for better traction in slippery conditions.
Along with the impressive powertrain, the Tundra comes with high-tech features that offer entertainment, information, and safety while on the road.

Safety and Driver-Assistive Tech

The Toyota Tundra safety features are standard on all trims, not just the premium 1794, Limited, and TRD Pro models. The standard features include a Rear-View Camera, Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Detection, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, Automatic High Beams, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. These features make up the Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS 2.5).

The Toyota Star Safety System comes standard on all Tundra models, too. This suite of features includes outstanding Toyota Tundra brakes, as well as Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brakes System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, and Smart Stop Technology.

Drivers who choose the upgraded trims like the Limited, 1794 Edition, and TRD Pro get additional driver-assistive features that include a Head-up Display, Surround-View Parking Camera, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

One of the most impressive new safety features comes on the 1794 Edition and TRD Pro: Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Merge Warning. This feature is especially helpful for Tundra drivers who choose to use the maximum towing capacity of 12,000 and want to remain safe on the road.

Additional safety features include Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select, and the Adaptive Variable Suspension. These features protect drivers while off-roading with their 2022 model year Tundra.

Impressive Infotainment Technology

All models come with the new Toyota Tundra technology that includes an intuitive touchscreen infotainment system that offers voice control through the “Hey, Toyota” command. The standard system has an 8-inch touchscreen with several USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Upgraded trims come with an impressively large 14-inch touchscreen, a navigation system, wireless charging, and a 12-speaker JBL Premium Audio system. This large touchscreen uses a technology called Human Machine Interface that relies on sight, touch, and voice activation for Integrated Streaming through Apple Music playlists and radio stations.

Other high-tech features include the Panoramic View Monitor for full visibility around the Tundra, a trailer back-up guide, and Toyota Connected Services through the Toyota App.
